      navigate_next
06:30 – Depart Manila for Banaue via Nueva Ecija and Nueva Vizcaya and stopping at San Jose for lunch (at own expense) or we drive along the more scenic and mountainous Malico road and have late lunch in Bambang.
      .
    • filter_2 Day 2: Banaue arrow_forward Batad Village
      navigate_next
08:00 – We have an early breakfast and then you depart with your English-speaking local guide. From Banaue Batad is approximately 16 kms away, the first 14 kms of which will be traveled by our privately chartered local jeepney. The rest of the distance is on foot using a mountain trail. The trip to Barangay Batad in Banaue, to witness the amphitheater shaped terraces located at 3600 ft., takes only a 30 minutes hike (*).
      navigate_next
Time permitting we can stop at the market and souvenir shop before dinner.
      .
(*) Provided you have a good level of physical fitness (expect unpaved and narrow mountain trails with steep irregular terrain, usually under a hot sun) and should you wish to trek for three further demanding hours we can offer you:
      .
      a) the Tappiya waterfall after Batad. With a phenomenal 70 metre fall in rainy season and a naturally formed pool at its bottom suitable for a cooling swim ( dress conservatively), Tappiya waterfall is an unique location in the area.
      .
      b) Banga-an village instead of Batad. Banga-an village showcases a typical Ifugao community. Wet weather causes damage so the steps need constant renovation. You are rewarded with spectacular views. .

Sagada is known for its ancient burial caves and mummified coffins at Luminang cave and Echo Valley.

We then can continue to the impressive Sumaguing cave or we can do the Coffee making tour. Both tours takes 1.5 to 2 hours and there is no time for both.
      navigate_next
We then enter the impressive Sumaguing Cave, known for it's rock formations and impressive chambers.
      .

  • library_booksAdditional Information about guide
The local regulations insist on the need of a local guide in Banaue and Sagada. Our Banaue Tours include already local guide hire (with basic English language skills) in Banaue and Sagada. Should you wish a German, Dutch , Spanish, Russian or French speaking guide (on top of the local guides) throughout your whole tour, this can be arranged by us upon your request in advance and costs approximately Php 5,000.00 additional per day. Food and accommodation for this guide comes still on top of this. Please indicate this as a request in your Booking Form.
  • hotelAccommodations
Most Hotels in North Luzon are lacking quality, service and the (slightly) better beach resorts are overrated so if you are expecting 5 star level of a ccommodation its better to avoid beautiful North. Keep in mind that many smaller places are family run. Some hotels in Vigan and San Juan are exception and offer good value of money. We visited all places and made a selection of our own and our client experiences: logistics, service, food quality, ambiance, value-for-money and location. Room rate is per night twin/double sharing and includes breakfast where indicated. Of course, we can also book your own suggested hotel.
    • Banaue Tour
      Banaue Grand View Hotel

The newest hotel is Banaue grand view hotel and is located 10 min drive from the town center and is nestled between the different Banaue rice terraces view points.

Their more expensive rooms in the main building are mostly 80m2 in size and offer 2 queen size beds and have a balcony overlooking the Banaue rice terraces.

They have a few cheaper and smaller rooms in the main building but you have to take a few more stairs. The rooms are of high quality mostly imported materials. Their best room has a jacuzzi overlooking the Banaue rice terraces.

Their newest 10 and cheapest forest view rooms ( 22m2) offer 1 queen size bed and are located opposite the main building. Also the rooms are made of high standard materials. They serve international dishes in their restaurant which can be crowded during busy days.

Banaue Heritage Hotel and Museum, boutique hotel, is located 20 min walk from the Banaue town center. The 14 rooms are small but very neatly and have aircon. You have to take some steps to reach the reception and the rooms.

      Staff is friendly.

They dont have their own restaurant though they serve breakfast. You may try Las Vegas restaurant opposite the road or the nearby restaurant of Tam An hotel. For the entry of the museum they charge php 300.00 and the museum holds the biggest collection of rice gods. Great views from their terrace over the nearby rice terraces.

      Tam-an Hotel

It is a relatively new hotel and their rooms are big. In each room they have 2 queen size beds or the slightly more expensive rooms have 2 king size beds. Also here you have to walk a few steps to get to the reception and the rooms.

In front they have a big terrace overlooking the same rice terraces as the view from Banaue Heritage hotel and museum.

It’s a 20 min walk to the town center and 1 minute walk to Las Vegas restaurant.

      Mount Data Hotel

Mount Data Hotel, is located 3,5 hour drive from Baguio and 1,5 hour drive from Sagada and is therefore an ideal stopover for tours in north Luzon. The place is newly-renovated and opened in 2022. They just forgot to replace the curtains. Located in Bauko, Mt. Data, it sits on 7.7 hectare land at 2100 meter above sea level. It features 22 hotel rooms divided into standard and deluxe rooms. They have conference facilities, a restaurant, cafe and bar, picnic grounds, and an eco trail.

All around it can be chilly, frost in the morning. A cozy fireplace can make you warm.

      The Shire of Sagada

This place has only 7 well designed rooms and are the best available in Sagada. It’s located 1.5 km from the center. As its a very small place it does not have an extensive menu and services are not on the same level as the quality of the room might suggest.

      Banaue Hotel (closed)

Php 4,000.00 per room per night base in twin share with breakfast.

This is the hotel in Banaue that may be especially attractive to those who want the best available in town and parking space (something quite hard to find in Banaue). It offers dining, a large lobby with souvenir shops, swimming pool, and weekly cultural shows. The Hotel has 84 and 2 types of rooms: Standard rooms with 3 single beds located on the lower floors and "renovated" deluxe rooms (included in our package) located on the ground and first floor with double bed and extra bed. They also have backpacker-type rooms at Php 250 a bed in both the older building as well as the new adjacent Hostel.

      Bangaan & Batad Hillside Inn

Both Inns are located near the rice terraces, Batad Hillside inn Offers great view of Batad Village and the Batad rice Terraces. Its located 9 km away from the downtown Banaue or 30 minutes by trike or jeepney. Parking is available for eight cars.

      Archog Hotel

Archog Hotel is probably the place to stay overnight in Bontoc, the getaway for trips to Kalinga. The facilities are less developed than in the cities, but given the hill climate a fan is fine without AC but with hot water. The hotel is right in the center of Bontoc on the main street, so a quite room at the back is preferred by our guests. Their restaurant offers suprizingly tasty and fresh food.
